12/31/2023 0 Comments Gimp photoshop 1960s photoThey feel that the end result must be how they saw it through the viewfinder.if that branch is encroaching into the frame, then you should take more care with composition. I often hear people say that a photograph is only a photograph if it is left untouched. ![]() Interesting discussion.thanks Dalt3897 for starting it :-) “No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.” just some thoughtsīecause they don't know how to use it and are afraid to try. and so do I, maybe not for making a flickr picture or a snapshot but if I am serious about a photo I can work on it for hours in photoshop or in the darkroom, and I really enjoy it, that is just as much of the creative process as the actual capturing of the photo is. Most of them are spending more time on photoshop or in the darkroom if they are analogue, then what they spend on the shoot. (and many professional photographers has photoshop that they copied from a friend or something along those lines.)Īll of the profesional photographers, that use digital imaging, that I know are using photoshop. Well about the expensive part, everyone can afford Gimp, and that is almost the same program. People like to take pride in the fact they got their photos without photoshop, forgetting that when you submitted film to a lab, they would make a load of corrections for you. They may be the same people who believe PS can correct crappy light, crappy composition and crappy photographers. Maybe PS has no place in forensic or journalistic photography - but the rest is art, and in art, anything goes. They've been with us since the invention of the printing press. They would be almost as close as the best reproductions." - Ansel Adams You will see perfectly beautiful images on an electronic screen. "For me the future of the image is going to be in electronic form. Such systems will have their own inherent and inescapable structural characteristics, and the artist and functional practitioner will again strive to comprehend and control them." - Ansel Adams I believe that the electronic image will be the next major advance. "I eagerly await new concepts and processes. "You don't take a photograph, you make it." - Ansel Adams "We must remember that a photograph can hold just as much as we put into it, and no one has ever approached the full possibilities of the medium." - Ansel Adams "There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs." - Ansel Adams "Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships." - Ansel Adams When people give me crap for using PShop to achieve the end result of my shots, I usually just let Ansel Adams do the talking for me. ![]() Their concern to me is real, but I think that taking them to the point of being anti-photoshop is not realistic. I guess their concern is that a lot of people can accomplish in PS what only a few has access to do and only by darkroom or field techniques. but with digital cameras, especially if you are shooting raw you almost have to use some kind of program or your photos will look like shit. ![]() I think It comes from the time when people shot slides and couldn't post process, it takes a bit more skill to make perfect slides to project then it takes to shoot on negative and have some colour correction and cropping possibilities later on. There are people that can't take photos that are retouched in any way. Yes, it's either to use some other program and have a hell on earth or to use photoshop and take the hell later. I guess they wouldn't dodge or burn in the darkroom either. I guess it is ok to use these other editing software but if you use Photoshop you are going to Hell. Alot of the photo's in these groups had been modified by some editing software. After reading some of the postings, most that stated if you use photoshop at all you are not a (true) photographer. I went searching for Photoshop group and I came across alot of anti-photoshop groups.
